The Corn Island Festival’s origins trace back to local college Professors Lee and Joy Pennington, who brought the magic of storytelling to Louisville in 1975. Naming it after the city's first settlement—a tiny island near the Falls of the Ohio River—the festival started modestly, and soon captured national attention, drawing crowds upwards of 10,000. The Oldham County History Center is the new home for the Festival, hoping to draw crowds as in the past, bringing top notch storytellers and local talent together for a fun celebration of tall tales!!
